Welcome!

On November 16, 1904, five women from Lewis Institute in Chicago, Illinois decided to establish a sorority based on the bond of friendship that had grown between them during their years together in high school and in college. The letters Kappa Phi Delta stand for Kale Philia Dunimus, which translates to Noble Friendship is Power.

Now, many years later, Kappa Phi Delta still continues to create and foster bonds of long-lasting and powerful friendships between women from a variety of backgrounds, of different races and religions, and from different parts of the world.

Our Purposes

1. To promote friendship and love within the sorority.

2. To develop dependability, cooperation and tactfulness.

3. To promote intellectual accomplishment and scholarship.

The women of Kappa Phi Delta recognize the absolute importance of a well-rounded college experience that will allow for a smooth transition into the professional world. Sisters not only focus on the academic aspect of college, but on cultivating skills that will be useful throughout life, such as time management, public speaking, teamwork, and leadership.

Kappa Phi Delta's affiliate program includes learning the history of the organization, meeting active members, team bonding, and gaining experience holding positions. To strengthen the academics of sisters, Kappa also has scholastic events to encourage one another, in-chapter tutors, and quiet hours set aside to foster a productive study environment in the house.

Sarah's Circle

Kappa Phi Delta partners with Sarah's Circle, a local women's shelter in Chicago that provides refuge for single homeless women. We aim to work with Sarah's Circle on a semesterly basis to help benefit women in our community.
